Bowman Spring Festival and Car Show brings crowd of smiles

The City of Bowman hosted its annual Spring festival and first ever car show in memory of longtime Bowman resident and car enthusiast, Terry Dalton, April 25 in Bowman City Park. The event saw a total of 51 vehicles, new and old, participate.

Early voting underway for Elbert County general primary

Early voting opened April 27 for the upcoming May 19 general primary that is slated to see a handful of contested elections in Elbert County. As of press time Tuesday, a total of 33 voters had already cast their vote in the primary.

The Elbert County slow pitch softball team saw its season come to an end last Wednesday at sectionals in Woodstock. The Lady Devils were the No. 5 seed out of 10 teams competing in Section 2.

The Elbert County girls’ tennis team’s season ended in the first round of the 2026 state tournament last Tuesday at Banks County.The Lady Devils fell to the Leopards 3-0 in the best-of-five match.

ECCHS track & field wins seven events at region meet

Elbert County recorded 28 top-four placements at the Region 8-A Division I meet in Banks County Monday. Top four finishers in each event advance to the sectional meet in Bremen Saturday, May 2.The Blue Devils won seven events– two team and five individual competitions.

Elbert County baseball wins 2026 region title

The Elbert County baseball team are region champions for the first time since 2023.The Diamond Devils swept Commerce last week in their final regular season series of the year to finish 13-2 in region play and 26-7 overall.

Elbert County Middle School (ECMS) eighth grader DaNyia Little was named Miss ECMS for 2026 at the annual Miss ECMS Pageant held in the auditorium April 18. Joining Little as winners were seventh grade representative Gracie Madrigal and sixth grade representative Rease McElroy.
