Lady Devils are 6-0

The undefeated Elbert County Lady Devils are 6-0 on the season as of Tuesday morning after defeating Walnut Grove and Commerce last week and T.L. Hanna in the first round of the McDonald’s Shootout Tournament in Hartwell Monday. The Lady Devils traveled to Cedar Shoals Dec.

Hughes’ 100th career win

Mat Devil Senior Tyshawn Hughes picked up his 100th career win during the Oconee County Tommy Warren Duals Saturday, Dec. 19. Hughes was undefeated on the day and won 8-5 over a two-time state champion wrestler from Commerce according to Head Coach Shane Anderson.

The Elbert County Blue Devils defeated Greater Atlanta Christian (GAC) 55-52 in the first round of the McDonald’s Shootout Tournament at Hart County High School in Hartwell Monday afternoon.

FHF Hardman’s ‘My Cause My Cleats’

Super Bowl LIV Champion Mecole Hardman, Jr. selected Friends Helping Friends Club (FHF) for his NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats.”  Thirty-two members of the Kansas City Chiefs wore custom cleats during the game in Week 13 where the Chiefs defeated the Broncos.

Lady Devils defeat Grovetown

After quarantine and canceled games delayed the start of its season, the Elbert County Lady Devils basketball team defeated the Grovetown Lady Warriors 65-55 in the first game of the season Saturday, Dec. 12 at Elbert County Middle School.

Granite City Scramble Champions

With six first place finishers and nine top three finishers, the Elbert County Mat Devils took home the 2020 Granite City Scramble Championship during the host tournament in the Inferno Saturday, Dec. 12.

Devils go down fighting, 28-21

It seemed so placid, a playoff football game with no scoring, one of those classic defensive struggles that hinges on a turnover late in the game. But what it turned into was a 49-point second half explosion that will long be remembered by Granite Bowl historians.

Devils knock off Banks County

Consistency in all phases of the game and a commanding rushing offense led by sophomore Quan Moss allowed Elbert County to go into this week’s first round of the Georgia Class AA playoffs with a decisive 36-6 victory over Banks County’s Leopards.

Lady Devils aiming for region title

The Elbert County Lady Devils Basketball team will return five starters this season after losing seven seniors due to graduation. And those five starters will be around for a while, as all five are in the team’s large eight-member sophomore class.

Quarantining reduces Devil roster

Like most every other football coaching staff in Georgia, the Elbert County Blue Devil coaching staff prepares for upcoming games with the understanding that the next day, COVID-19 protocols may not allow starters to return to the field in time for a game.
