Elbert County Comprehensive High School’s Volleyball Lady Devils are set to make a historic debut Monday, Aug. 10 at the school’s gymnasium on the school campus.

Softball coach grateful for ‘strong’ senior class

Elbert County’s new softball coach, Drew Greer, says going into a new season he knows he has a “strong” senior class. The Lady Devil softball team will open its season at the Chick-fil-A Classic in Augusta on Saturday. The Lady Devils will take on  Greenbrier High School in Evans on Aug.

Schedule revised, Devils to scrimmage the Lions

The Elbert County Blue Devils are now scheduled to kick off the 2020 football season at Franklin County High School in Carnesville for a scrimmage on Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m., according to a revised football schedule sent out by Head Coach Shannon Jarvis on Sunday evening.

Coach Jarvis and Blue Devils back to work

For the first time since mid-March Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) athletes are engaging in conditioning drills. “Safety is the top priority for the athletes,” new Elbert County Head Football Coach Shannon Jarvis said prior to workouts held at the high school Monday.

Greer aims to take softball to next level

New Elbert County High School Softball Coach Drew Greer has some lofty goals. In his first five years, the former Emmanuel College catcher and first baseman seeks to have the Lady Diamond Devils Columbus-bound and in the state tournament. Greer doesn’t stop there.

Old photo brings blast from the past

On a recent trip to see the Atlanta Hawks play, Elbert County High School Head Basketball Coach Don Hurlburt got a big surprise. An old team sent him a photograph via text that Hurlburt had never seen. “I was so excited I nearly jumped out of the car,” said Coach Hurlburt.

Devils shine in possible season finale

As the COVID-19 pandemic threatened to end spring sports, the Diamond Devils were determined to win what might be their last outing of the year.
