Bastyr named STAR Student at ECCHS

Elbert County Comprehensive High School and the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce announced this week that Justin Bastyr, son of Amanda and Christopher Bastyr, has been named the STAR Student for 2020-2021.  Justin selected Mr. Alton Smith, his AP Statistics teacher, as his STAR Teacher.

County Administrator Bob Thomas is retiring after 15 years with the Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC), Chairman Lee Vaughn announced near the end of Monday night’s regular meeting. “Bob, after many years of service, has decided he’s going to retire from the county,” Vaughn said.

Fertilizer license surrendered

The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) has notified Recovered Materials Company (RMC), which operates Broad River Valley Farms (BRVF) on River Road in Elbert County, that it has violated a consent order approved in January 2020 and that its fertilizer license was being “surrendered.
