Keep Elbert County Beautiful holding amnesty events, recycling day

Keep Elbert County Beautiful (KECB) is slated for a busy March as they are holding tire amnesty events and a recycling event over the course of the month. The recycling event is scheduled for March 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bowman Recycling Center at 22. N. Segars St.

Friends Helping Friends Club Inc. holds pageant

Elbert County was shining a little brighter than normal Saturday night as all of the stars came out for the annual Friends Helping Friends Club Inc. (FHF Club) Pageant Feb. 28. The pageant featured 22 contestants who were escorted and crowned by three-time Super Bowl Champion Mecole Hardman Jr.

Oliver Street set for paving

One of the busiest roads in the city limits is set for a long-term paving project as City Manager Kevin Eavenson announced Monday that North and South Oliver Streets are scheduled to be repaved starting in June.

Elbert girls’ soccer searching for groove in new season

This year’s Elbert County girls’ soccer team is a relatively young, unproven bunch. After the graduation of star seniors Victoria Medellin and Paulina Guerrero, the Lady Devils have a roster featuring seven freshmen and five sophomores among the 20 total players on the team.

Elbert County's D.K. Winn aiming to leave his mark at S.C. State

When D.K. Winn stood up at the table and triumphantly bellowed “Go Dogs!” after officially signing with South Carolina State to play football on Feb. 11, it marked the culmination of his Elbert County football journey, and the start of another in Orangeburg.

Young Elbert boys’ soccer team adjusting to high school game

Elbert boys’ soccer has a young team this season aiming to build a foundation for future success. Several freshmen are earning major playing time as fifth-year head coach Luke Hall aims to retool the roster.
