Hart breakers: Devils defeat Hart for first time since 2018

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   Elbert County defeated arch rival Hart County for the first time since 2018 by a score of 31-28 in the historic Granite Bowl Aug. 19 after a back-and-forth battle that was clinched by a defensive fourth down stop in the final minutes of the game.

Softball, baseball fields to flood with new illumination

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   New and improved lighting is coming to the Elbert County Comprehensive High School baseball and softball fields at a cost of nearly $400,000 after the Elbert County Board of Education (BOE) voted to approve the expenditure during Monday night’s meeting.

Lady Devils shut out opponents to open season

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   The Coaches Poll pre-season seventh-ranked Lady Devils softball team kicked off the season Aug. 2 with a 13-0 scrimmage against Lincoln County that saw senior Lilly Ray score a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Stephens scrimmage showcases strong start

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   On a warm Aug. 5 night at The Reservation in Toccoa, Elbert County kicked off a pre-season scrimmage against Stephens County’s Indians by taking a 28-7 dominant lead at the end of the first half.

Lady Rams double down on Diamond Day

Little League All-Star teams finish third, fifth in state
