Devils beat the buzzer to win first region game over Tigers

The Elbert County Blue Devils basketball picked up their first region win of the season on a last second shot from Boaz Goodman as they defeated Commerce in the Inferno Jan. 16 thanks to a fourth-quarter comeback.

Mat Devils defeat Johnson in Inferno

The Elbert County Mat Devils finished their dual season with a dominant 60-18 win over AAAA’s Johnson High School out of Gainesville.

Lady Devils fall to Lady Cats at home, Fannin on the road

The Elbert County Lady Devils faced off with the No. 4 ranked Rabun County in the Inferno and fell victim to lights out three-point shooting by the Lady Cats as they fell by a score of 64-34 after a strong start in the game.  “I had a feeling they were going to shoot that way tonight.

Mat Devils finish third in area

The Elbert County Blue Devils finished in third place at the Area 8A Championship Duals Jan. 13 after finishing 3-1 in the tournament.

Cheer squad brings back halftime show

For the first time since the start of the COVID pandemic in 2020, the Elbert County basketball cheerleaders have brought halftime entertainment back to the Inferno with a halftime show that they created on their own.

ECMS basketball starts region tournament, Mat Rams ready for traditional tourneys

The Elbert County Middle School Lady Rams basketball teams  earned the No. 1 seed heading into the middle school region basketball tournament after finishing the regular season on top of the standings. The eighth grade Lady Rams capped off an undefeated season with a 45-7 win over Hart County Jan.

Lady Devils win five of last six heading into region play

Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team have won five out of their last six games to improve to 6-9 on the season as they prepare for the region schedule coming off of back-to-back wins.  “Five of our last six, I’ll take that,” Head Coach Josh Jones said after the Jan. 6 win over Cedar Shoals.
