Net Devils kick off new season on new courts

The Elbert County Blue Devils and Lady Devils tennis teams got their 2024 season started last week, highlighted by the first ever match held on the new tennis courts that were constructed outside of Elbert County Middle School. “We’ve got two different sides here this year.

ECMS soccer Rams, Lady Rams fall to Madison County at home

The Elbert County Middle School (ECMS) Rams and Lady Rams soccer teams fell at the hands of Madison County at home Feb. 8. The Lady Rams started the day off with a closely contested 3-0 loss to the Mustangs.

Mat Devils qualify for sectionals

Elbert County’s Mat Devils had a total of 13 wrestlers qualify for the upcoming state sectionals after competing in the Area 8A Traditional Championships in the Inferno Feb. 3. The Devils saw two area champions in Carter Fleming at 138 pounds and Isiah Davis at 144 pounds.

Devils pick up third region win on the road

Elbert County’s Blue Devils basketball team finished off a season sweep of Commerce on the road Feb. 2 after beating the Tigers 59-55 to move back into third place in the region standings. Elbert saw Athens Christian earlier in the week, but fell by a score of 79-61 Jan.

Lady Devils playoff hopes depend on Region Tournament

The Elbert County Lady Devils basketball team are scheduled to compete for a chance to go to the GHSA State Playoffs as they compete in the Region 8A Division 1 Championship tournament Feb. 15 and 16. The Lady Devils earned the No.

Mat Devils take first at Inferno Invitational

Elbert County’s Mat Devils finished first out of 15 teams as they hosted the Inferno Invitational Jan. 27. “I thought we wrestled well.  I still feel like some of our finalists should have won, but overall I felt pretty good,” Head Coach Shane Anderson said Monday.

Devils beat Tallulah Falls on Senior Night

The Elbert County Blue Devils basketball team moved into third place in the Region 8A Division 1 standings after a 56-44, Senior Night win over Tallulah Falls in the Inferno Jan. 26. The Devils are 2-3 in region play and 6-16 overall so far on the year.

Lady Devils fall in close region game

Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team fell in a heartbreaker to Tallulah Falls in the Inferno Jan. 26  after a defensive battle between the two teams. “Our biggest thing was we didn’t shoot the ball very well and couldn’t score when we wanted to,” Head Coach Josh Jones said.

Spring sports set to kick off this week with soccer scrimmages

Spring sports are just around the corner as the Elbert County Blue Devils and Lady Devils soccer teams are scheduled to see the start of soccer season with a scrimmage against Lincoln County in the Granite Bowl Feb. 2. In addition to the scrimmage, the regular season is scheduled to begin Feb.
