Devils to play Banks for region title

Head Coach Don Hurlburt and the Elbert County Blue Devils will face off against the Banks County Leopards Thursday, Feb. 18 for the third time this season, this time  for the Region 8-AA Championship.

Undefeated Lady Devils lead Region 8-AA

The Elbert County Lady Devils have paved their way to head into the Region 8-AA Tournament as the No. 1 seed after an undefeated season in region play. The tournament will be hosted by Banks County as this year’s tournament rotation allows for the No. 1 boys to host.

Williams sole senior for Lady Devils

Devils second heading into region tournament

The Elbert County Blue Devils are set as the second seed heading into the Region 8-AA Tournament next week. Hosted by No. 1 Banks County, the first round of the tournament will feature No. 2 Elbert vs No. 3 Rabun and No. 1 Banks vs No. 4. Union.

Seniors set career highs in final season

Mat Devil seniors Jamal Rucker, Tyshawn Hughes, Cristian Hall, Irbin Olmos and Nolan Johnson have set career highs in their senior season. Rucker, in the 126-pound division, has over 172 career wins.

Mat Devils qualify 13 for state

The Elbert County Mat Devils qualified 13 wrestlers for the GHSA State Tournament in Macon Tuesday, Feb. 9 and Wednesday, Feb. 10 after finishing in second place in the 5-AA Area Traditional tournament in the Inferno Feb. 4.

Double OT Thriller

After Friday’s double overtime thriller in the Inferno that led to an 89-85 victory for the Elbert County Blue Devils, all Head Coach Don Hurlburt could say was how proud he was of his team.  “This team, it’s a process. They have been growing and growing.

Lady Devils No. 1 in State AA, region

Head Coach Josh Jones was in shock after the Lady Devils’ victory over the Banks County Lady Leopards Jan. 22 in the Inferno.  “I’m in shock. I wasn’t expecting that,” Jones said  about the Lady Devils’ second win over Banks County. “I knew we could, I just didn’t know we would.

Region victory

  The Elbert County Blue Devils’ 68-63 win over Rabun County Friday night in the Inferno has set the Devils closer to their goal for the season.  “Our goal is to win the region championship. All of that is in front of us, all of that is still possible,” Head Coach Don Hurlburt said.
