Lady Devils second seed as playoffs begin

Elbert County’s Lady Devils will be the host in the first round of the Class AA playoffs Monday, but prior to that Coach Drew Greer has scheduled a game Thursday against Social Circle so his team won’t get rusty.

Blue Devils fall to Red Devils, 27-20

 Elbert County mounted three rallies in the second half of Friday night’s homecoming game against Lincoln County, but the third fell nine yards short in a 27-20 loss to the Red Devils. “There were a lot of positives to work off of tonight,” said Blue Devil Head Coach Shannon Jarvis.

Male Raiders and Mix Raiders second in a meet at Hart County High School

The Elbert County Raiders traveled to Hart County High School Saturday and finished in second place out of 15 high schools participating. The Elbert County Male Team finished second as did the Mix Team.

Elbert County falls to 1-3 after loss to W-W

Elbert County’s Blue Devils never got untracked last Friday against Washington-Wilkes as the neighbors to the south rolled up a 42-7 victory.

Lady Devils will be region’s No. 2 team in playoffs

Elbert County’s Lady Devils are set to wind down the season as the region’s No. 2 team with a 3-2 region record as of Monday. The team was scheduled to host Banks County for the final region game Tuesday and results were not available before press time. Region play opened up on the road Sept.

Devils fall to run-happy Commerce, 55-28

It was difficult to find bright spots for the Blue Devils in Commerce Friday night after the Tigers defeated Elbert County, 55-28, but Coach Shannon Jarvis found a few. “I knew we would have trouble with their offense early in the game,” said Jarvis of theTigers, who rolled up 563 yards rushing.

Lack of ‘execution’ dooms Blue Devils

Elbert County’s Blue Devils finally found some offense after three quarters of football against Hebron Christian Academy in the Historic Granite Bowl Friday night, but it was too little too late.

Senior Diamond Devils honored

Elbert County and Hart County athletic officials met Monday afternoon and agreed on limiting the number of fans in the Historic Granite Bowl in the Friday, Sept. 4 football opener between the Blue Devils and the Bulldogs.
