Lady Devils basketball moves to 8-1 on season

The Elbert County girls’ basketball team went 2-1 in its three games last week, putting their record at 8-1 as region play ramps up. The Lady Devils opened the week on Tuesday night with a home matchup against Rabun County, who came into the game with a six game winning streak.

Swarming defense propels Lady Devils to hot start

The Elbert County girls’ basketball team is off to a 7-0 start to begin the 2025-26 season. In their most recent game Tuesday night, Elbert got a big region win over Rabun County, who entered the game with a 6-1 record.

Drug Court holds commencement at Elberton First Methodist Church

Teen killed in shooting inside Elberton McDonald's

A 17-year old student at Elbert County Comprehensive High School was fatally shot inside the McDonald’s restaurant in Elberton Dec. 9. According to a Dec. 10 press release by the Elberton Police Department (EPD), the EPD responded to a reported shooting at McDonald's at approximately 10:20 p.m.

Hoop Devils rebound with three straight wins at home

The Elbert County boys’ basketball team bounced back from a 0-2 start to win their past three games and bring their record to 3-2 to begin the season. The Blue Devils earned their first win of the season over Social Circle last Tuesday with a 70-60 victory.

Lady Devils basketball wins first four games

Elbert County girls’ basketball has hopes of winning its region and earning a state title, and the Lady Devils began that pursuit by winning their first four games of the 2025-26 season. The Lady Devils beat Madison County on the road to tip off the year.
