Diamond Devils well-represented on all-state teams

Five Elbert County Diamond Devils made the GHSA Georgia Dugout Club All-State teams for Class A Division I. Elbert County went 28-8 in the 2026 season, winning a region title and advancing to the Elite 8 of the state playoffs.Senior outfielder Jose Rodriguez was a first-team selection.

EMS installs AEDs around Elbert County

Elbert County Emergency Services (EMS) recently installed three automated external defibrillators (AED) at three additional locations around Elbert County. The AED's were placed at the Elbert County Senior Center, the new Elbert County 4-H Facility and the little league fields at McWilliams Park.

City of Elberton approves water main replacement project

The City of Elberton approved a resolution authorizing a $3.5 million GEFA loan for the purpose of replacing galvanized water mains around the city during the council's July 7 regular meeting. The loan is to finance "a portion of the cost acquiring constructing and installing" the new water mains.

Elbert County Middle School Beta Club wins national awards

The Elbert County Middle School Beta Club brought home two national awards from the National Beta Junior Convention hosted in Nashville, Tennessee June 23 through June 27. The club boasted a Top 5 award in the on-site drawing category thanks to Alyssa Handy.

Bobby Brown Park hosting July 4 'Summer of Scrappy' bash

Professional wrestling is coming to Bobby Brown Park July 4. Independent Georgia promotion Scrappy Championship Wrestling is hosting the “Summer of Scrappy: The Bash of Bobby Brown” at the park on Independence Day.There is a $5 fee for admission and a $5 parking pass fee.Doors will open at 5 p.m.
