Elbert County cross country running with renewed focus in 2026

Last season got off to a chaotic start for Elbert County cross country.There was no coach in place, and as a result, it was uncertain whether Elbert County would be able to field a team at all.

Elbert County volleyball aiming to build on playoff debut

Elbert County volleyball made its first playoff appearance in school history last season, and the Lady Devils are aiming to build on that success in 2026.Last season, Elbert County finished 16-15 in the regular season– its first winning season in program history.

Elbert County softball out to build on last year’s success

Last season ended too early for the Elbert County softball team’s liking, and the Lady Devils are intent on improving on 2025 with a trip to Columbus this year.The Lady Devils went 24-3 in the 2025 regular season, including a perfect 12-0 mark in region play.

ECCCSG hosting Walkathon

The Elbert County Colon Cancer Support Group is hosting a Walkathon Sept. 12 at Sutton Park in Elberton. The event is for all ages and includes both a 3K and 5K walking distances.It begins at 8 a.m. and same-day registration begins at 7 a.m.

Elbert County Betas to host food distributions

Elbert County's beta clubs are participating in food distributions to help those in need at Forest Hill Assembly of God throughout the rest of the year. The Betas kicked off the initiative Aug. 6 and assisted the church with various duties.

Paxton Glaude throws out first pitch at Red Sox game

Elbert County met Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts over the weekend as Elbert County native and fifth grader Paxton Glaude got the opportunity to throw out the first pitch of the Boston Red Sox's game against the Athletics Aug. 7.
