Elbert County schools out Friday for championship

Elbert County School District announced Monday that school will not be in session to give students, teachers and parents the opportunity to attend the GHSA Class A Division 1 State Championship game, which pits Elbert County's Lady Devils against the East Laurens Lady Falcons.

Lunsford wins region player of the year, headlining Elbert's basketball honorees

Elbert’s Audrey Lunsford found another sport to win region player of the year in. The junior was named the 2026 Region 8A Division I player of the year, months after winning the same award as a shortstop for the Lady Devils’ softball team.
