Early voting concludes with May 19 Election Day

Election Day for the general primary election was held yesterday after over 1,300 voters voted early. Due to poll closure occurring after press time Tuesday, Election Day coverage will be available in the May 27 edition of The Elberton Star.

Commissioners unveil new 4-H facility

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners and Elbert County 4-H celebrated the grand opening of Elbert's new 4-H facility, bringing an end to multi-year process to get a new building. The commissioners officially approved the construction of the new building Feb. 12, 2024, allocating $2.

Golf teams hosting state championship welcome party

The Elbert County golf program is teeing off the excitement for the GHSA state championships with a welcome party at the Elberton square Sunday night. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the night before the championships begin Monday at Arrowhead Pointe.

Diamond Devils beat Pepperell in two games, advance to first Elite 8 since 2018

he Diamond Devils are still dancing.Elbert County handled the Pepperell Dragons in two games last Thursday to advance to the Elite 8 in the 2026 GHSA A Division I state tournament. It is Elbert County’s first Elite 8 berth since 2018.“This group’s just special,” head coach Lance Ingram said.
