City of Elberton Easter Eggstravaganza details announced

The City of Elberton will hold an Easter egg hunt called “Easter Eggstravaganza” on Thursday, April 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The actual egg hunt will begin at Sutton Park at 6:15 p.m. before participants are encouraged to head to the downtown square.

Elberton Lions Club hosting annual 5K

The Elberton Lions Club will have its 23rd annual 5K run/walk on April 25 starting at 8 a.m. The start/finish will be at Elbert County Comprehensive High School. Race day registration and packet pickup will begin there at 7 a.m. The 5K is the Elberton Lions Club’s primary fundraiser for the year.

"Health Meets Hope" 5K scheduled for Sunday

Friends of Advantage Behavioral Health Systems is scheduled to host the  Health Meets Hope 5K run and walk Sunday at McWilliams Park. The event is scheduled to be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is being held to raise awareness for mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Diamond Devils blast BASA

The Elbert County boys’ baseball team continued its hot hitting against the Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy, sweeping a three-game series held last Tuesday and Friday with each game being called early due to the mercy rule.

Elbert County boys' soccer gets first win of season at Commerce

The Elbert County boys’ soccer team is in the win column. Elbert got its first win of the season at Commerce on Friday, winning in penalty shootouts after the game was tied 4-4. Pablo Medellin converted the winning penalty kick after a second-half performance that saw him score two goals.

Lady Devils tennis sweeps Franklin on senior day

The Elbert County tennis team honored its two seniors, Emily Poon and Gracie Kidd, before its Thursday afternoon home match against Franklin County. Poon, Kidd and the Lady Devils went on to sweep Franklin County, winning their match 5-0 as Poon extended her undefeated streak.

Henderson stars as Blue Devils play tournament in Suwanee

Elbert County sent five boys’ golfers to Bear’s Best Golf Club in Suwanee for the North Gwinnett Invitational this weekend. The Blue Devils shot a 319 as a team, good enough for fourth place. Nolan Henderson led the way for Elbert County with a 70 and made a playoff for the top individual spot.
