Homecoming activities at Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) are underway and the students are eagerly waiting for the crowning of the 2023 Homecoming Queen during Friday night’s football game.
The theme for this year’s homecoming is “Starlit Nights.” Halftime activities will include the crowning of first and second runners-up and the homecoming queen.
The homecoming dance will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 in the ECCHS multipurpose room from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The faculty sponsors for homecoming are JoAnne Gunter and Jeannie Jourolmon. The National Honor Society is assisting with the planning of the homecoming activities.

The one receiving the most votes became the representative of that class. The representatives are freshman Jurnee Porter; sophomore EriYana Agurs and junior Hannah Brady.
The senior class selected five girls, with the Top 15 receiving votes including top 15 Aameriah Allen, Breunna Allen, Gracie Brady, Cadance Burnette, Daniya Carter, Katelyn Edwards, Adelyn Evans , Keitasia Glaze, Cile Hall, Jada Heard, D’Nadia Hill, Georgia Phillips, Audrey Poon, Jude Sanders and Avery Whitfield.
From the list of 15 seniors, the student body selected five and the top seven seniors were named to the homecoming court.
The three girls with the most votes will be recognized as second runner-up, first runner-up and homecoming queen Friday, Sept. 22, in the Granite Bowl during halftime of the Blue Devil game versus Jefferson County.

The 2023 Homecoming Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the scoreboard end of the Granite Bowl on Church Street. It will go up Church Street to Thomas Street, turn left onto Heard Street, and then proceed to Sutton Square.
The homecoming court (ninth through 11th grade Class Representatives and the seniors), as well as the senior football players and their sponsors will be riding in the parade along with several ECCHS clubs, the ECCHS marching band, the JROTC and the ECCHS varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders.
The winners of the Miss ECMS Pageant and Elbert County Parks and Recreation Department cheerleaders will be participating as well.
The homecoming court will be announced and recognized following the parade prior to the community-wide pep rally.
The public is encouraged to attend and show their Blue Devil spirit.
