Lady Devils hosting ACE Charter in playoff first round

The Inferno will play host in the first round of the GHSA A Division I playoffs, with ACE Charter visiting the Elbert County Lady Devils on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. 18-8 Elbert County is the No. 12 seed in the state tournament while ACE comes in at No. 21.

Playoff basketball is here for the Elbert County Lady Devils. The Elbert girls’ basketball team beat Commerce 52-42 in the first round of the GHSA Region 8A Division 1 tournament Monday night at Piedmont University in Demorest.

Elbert County basketball came up short in the first round of the region tournament against Banks County Monday night, losing 55-43 at Piedmont University in Demorest. Though Elbert’s run in the region tournament was cut short, they will still likely land in the GHSA state tournament.

The Elbert County basketball team earned perhaps its biggest win of the season Friday night with an 85-83 overtime victory over Commerce. The Blue Devils handed the Tigers their first region loss of the 2025-26 season. “Huge win,” head coach Chris Owens said.

Mat Devils send 11 to state
