The Elbert County boys’ basketball team got back in the win column with a 61-58 overtime win over Banks County Friday night, picking up a region win to snap a three-game losing streak before dropping a road game at Rabun on Tuesday. The Blue Devils are 6-10 overall.

Mat Devils take runner-up spot at state duals

The Elbert County wrestling team is officially the 2026 Class A State Runners-Up, after advancing all the way to the state final of the Class A State Dual Championships hosted by Heard County Saturday.
“I’m more than anything proud for the kids,” head coach Shane Anderson said.

Qualifying for Bowman city council to begin Monday

Qualifying dates have been announced for the March 17 election to fill a lone Bowman city council seat.
According to a qualifying notice from the City of Bowman, qualifying is slated to be held during normal business hours from Jan. 26 through Jan. 30 at City Hall.
The qualifying fee is $35.

Lady Devils sweep Franklin, gearing up for region gauntlet

Region play is here for the Elbert County girls’ basketball team, and with it comes some tough tests that have big-time ramifications for the Lady Devils’ season.
The Lady Devils traveled to Commerce on Tuesday to take on the Lady Tigers and came up short 45-38.

The Elbert County wrestling team just turned in one of its best performances of the year ahead of one of the most important weekends of the season.
The Blue Devils competed in the Mountain View Preregion Duals on Jan. 3. They went 4-1 and finished in second place.
