The Elberton Star office to be closed for upcoming holidays

The Elberton Star office will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. The office will close Friday, Dec. 23 and Friday, Dec. 30 at 5 p.m. and reopen Tuesday, Dec. 27 and Tuesday,Jan. 3 at 8 a.m.

Lady Devils topple top-ranked

Thanks to a 24-0 run that started in the second quarter and ended in the third quarter, Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team has now won seven games in a row after a 73-54 win over Oglethorpe County Dec. 17. Oglethorpe showed why Sandy’s Spiel considers the Lady Patriots as the No.

Devils steadily improve in close loss to Oglethorpe

Steady improvement continues to be the trend for the Elbert County Blue Devils basketball team as they outscored Oglethorpe County 29-25 in the second half, but ultimately came up short in a 59-46 loss in the Inferno Dec. 17.

Shannon Jarvis named Coach of the Year, Devils earn accolades

Shannon Jarvis, Head Coach of the Elbert County Blue Devils football team, was named one of Parker Resources’ 10 Class A Division 1 coaches of the year after guiding Elbert to their first 10-win season since 2015. “That award is a recognition of our coaching staff.

Lady Devils dominate Madison, Murray to move to 6-1 on season

Elbert County’s Lady Devils continued their run of dominance as they stretched their win streak to six games after defeating Madison County 60-25 at home Dec. 9 and Murray County 67-39 at Grayson High School during the Sandy’s Spiel Showcase Dec. 10.

Mat Devils see eight Top 3 finishes during series of scrambles on the road

Elbert County’s varsity Mat Devils wrestled in the Banks Scramble hosted by Banks County Dec. 9 while the JV Mat Devils wrestled in the JV Panther Scramble hosted by Jackson County Dec. 10 and the two teams saw one individual first place finisher and a host of second and third place finishes.

Moss named region Athlete of the Year

The Elbert County Blue Devils football team now boasts the Region 8A Division 1 Athlete of the Year, 17 players named to the All-Region Team and four honorable mentions after the region awards were announced Dec. 2.
