The Elbert County Blue Devils basketball team was scheduled to head into their first week of region games looking to right the ship as they dropped games to Stephens County Jan. 3 and Fannin County Jan. 7 to fall to 1-14 on the year.

Lady Devils’ battle falls short in top-ranked tournament

Elbert County’s Lady Devils battled against some of the best teams in the state and finished with a 1-2 record during the Cedar Shoals Winter Classic Dec. 28 to Dec. 30. The Lady Devils opened the Winter Classic with a 65-63 win over Maynard Jackson, the No.

Lady Devil Terrace Hester hit a career-record of 1,000 points during Elbert’s 82-51 sweep of Hart County High School’s Lady Bulldogs Friday, Dec. 23 in Hartwell. Hester joins Lady Devil teammates Aaniyah Allen and Niyah Moon in the 1,000 point club.

Devils finish fifth; Anderson picks up 200th career dual win

The Elbert County Blue Devils took home fifth place in the East Hall Christmas Clash Dec. 22. The team win also signified Head Coach Shane Anderson’s 200th career dual win. Adding to the team’s overall finish were eight Mat Devils who finished in the Top 6 during the event.

Lunsford plays in historic game at Truist

Elbert County Lady Devils softball star Ava Lunsford played in the first softball game ever played in Truist Park as she was selected to play in the Georgia Dugout Club All-State competition Nov. 13. The event saw Lunsford compete alongside 82 of Georgia’s best high school seniors in two games.
