Lady Devils ranked No. 7 in state coaches poll

The Elbert County Lady Devils were ranked No. 7 in Class A Division 1 in the Sept.11 Coaches Box Georgia Coaches Poll after extending their winning streak to six with back-to-back non-region wins Sept. 5 and Sept. 7. “We feel like we’re really clicking together.

Devils finish third, Lady Devils post season-bests in Carnesville

The Elbert County Blue Devils Cross Country team had three runners finish in the Top 10 and brought home a third-place team finish after competing at the Bill Woods Pridelands Invitational hosted by Franklin County High School in Carnesville Sept. 9.

Volley Devils defeat Commerce

The Elbert County Volley Devils picked up another area win as they downed Commerce 2-1 on the road Sept. 7 to improve to 6-18 on the season and 2-2 in the area. Elbert started the game by winning the first set 25-21, but fell 25-13 in the second set.

Rams volleyball adds wins over Habersham, Franklin

The Elbert County Middle School (ECMS) Volley Rams downed Habersham in straight sets on their way to a 2-0 home-win Sept. 6 before traveling to Franklin County Sept. 12 and winning 2-0.

Devils score 21 unanswered in comeback win

The Elbert County Blue Devils football team scored 21 unanswered second-half points after trailing 20-0 at halftime to pull off a 21-20 comeback win over Harlem on the road Sept. 1. “I’ve never seen such a tale of two different halves,” Head Coach Shannon Jarvis said.

Volley Devils grab first area win over Athens Christian

The Elbert County Volley Devils secured a close 2-1 win over Athens Christian in their first night of area matches this season as Elbert improved to 4-14 on the year. Elbert started off the match against the Lady Eagles with a close 25-22 win in the first set.

Softball team opens region play with back-to-back wins

The Lady Devils kicked off their region schedule with a pair of dominant run-rule wins over Athens Christian Aug. 29 and Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy Aug. 31 to improve to 8-3 on the season. “I think everybody is just sort of clicking,” Head Coach Drew Greer said.

Rams fall to Stephens at home, drop to 0-2 on season

The Rams football team saw Stephens County in their second game of the season Aug. 31, but fell by a score of 22-0 to the Rebels. The Rams are scheduled to play again Sept. 7 on the road against Madison County with kickoff set for 5:30 p.m.

Lady Devils take wins in consecutive games

Elbert County’s Lady Devils softball team took a 9-7 win over Stephens County Aug. 24 thanks to back-to-back home runs from Emily Booth and Ky Dubose that gave Elbert the lead in a thrilling offensive battle.

The Elbert County Blue Devils football team came up short in the final minutes of a 55-35 offensive shootout against AAAA’s Madison County in the historic Granite Bowl Aug. 25.
