Devils rebound to finish 2-1 at McDonald’s Shootout

The Elbert County Blue Devils basketball team defeated Social Circle and Prince Avenue in the McDonald’s Shootout hosted by Hart County Dec. 27 through Dec. 29 to improve to 4-10 on the year. The Devils started the tournament with a game against Easley Dec. 27, where they fell by a score of 70-54.

Lady Devils go 2-1, finish third at McDonald’s Shootout

  The Elbert County Lady Devils basketball team finshed third at the McDonald’s Shootout hosted by Hart County Dec. 27 to Dec. 29 after downing Franklin County and Daniel from Central, S.C. The Lady Devils got the tournament started with a 46-39 win over Franklin County Dec.

Mat Devils host Granite City Duals, finish 3-1

The Elbert County Mat Devils finished in second place as they hosted the Granite City Duals in the Inferno Dec. 9. Elbert finished 3-1 overall on the day with their only loss coming to eventual winner, Jackson County. The Devils started with a dominant 77-6 win over Duluth.

Devils improving in Geth’s second season at Elbert

The Elbert County Blue Devils basketball team fell in consecutive days to Athens Academy and Madison County Dec. 8 and Dec. 9, to fall to 1-7 on the season.

GHSA ratifies new regions, approves playoff formula

The GHSA State Executive Committee voted Nov. 29 to unanimously approve the region alignments for Class A Division 1, placing Elbert County into Region 8A Division 1 for the second consecutive reclassification cycle.

Rams split games against Habersham at home

The Elbert County Middle School Rams split a pair of home games against Habersham Dec. 11 as the seventh grade team won by a score of 27-17 while the eighth grade team lost by a score of 43-26.

Home of the state’s best in softball

Elbert County Lady Devil Emily Booth was named one of the top junior softball players in the state after she was selected Nov. 30 to compete in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) Junior All-Star Game.

New-look Lady Devils start new season and ‘new era’

Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team faced rival Hart County for the first time this season, but fell 55-38 in a game that was closer than the final score indicates.

Mat Devils dominate Bulldogs

The Elbert County Mat Devils completely dominated rival Hart County in a 64-9 dual win in the Inferno Nov. 29. Elbert hosted both Hart and Harlem in the Inferno and went 2-0 for the day after the Devils started the day by beating Harlem in a close 48-30 dual.

Mat Rams host exhibition, basketball teams go 6-2

The Elbert County Mat Rams wrestled a pair of exhibition matches against rival Hart County and Loganville’s Youth Middle School. The Rams matched up wrestlers in similar weight classes and let them wrestle to gain experience, so team scores were not kept.
