Lady Devils fall in region road battle

The Elbert County Lady Devils fell to No. 3 ranked Athens Christian 72-30 Jan. 12 in the opening game of their region schedule, bringing their three-game winning streak to an end. “We knew how good they were.

Devils fall in region road battle

Elbert County’s Blue Devil basketball team opened up region play with a 68-54 defeat at the hands of No. 9 ranked Athens Christian on the road Jan. 12. “It was a tough third quarter. We came out flat and were stuck on 34 [points] for a long time.

Cheer squad brings back halftime show

For the first time since the start of the COVID pandemic in 2020, the Elbert County basketball cheerleaders have brought halftime entertainment back to the Inferno with a halftime show that they created on their own.

ECMS basketball starts region tournament, Mat Rams ready for traditional tourneys

The Elbert County Middle School Lady Rams basketball teams  earned the No. 1 seed heading into the middle school region basketball tournament after finishing the regular season on top of the standings. The eighth grade Lady Rams capped off an undefeated season with a 45-7 win over Hart County Jan.

Lady Devils win five of last six heading into region play

Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team have won five out of their last six games to improve to 6-9 on the season as they prepare for the region schedule coming off of back-to-back wins.  “Five of our last six, I’ll take that,” Head Coach Josh Jones said after the Jan. 6 win over Cedar Shoals.

Devils ready to kick off region play in Tallulah

The Elbert County Blue Devils Basketball team is set to kick off region play with a pair of games this week against Tallulah Falls Jan. 9 and Athens Christian Jan. 12.  The Devils come into the region games off of back-to-back losses to AAA’s Stephens County Jan. 5 and AAAA’s Cedar Shoals Jan. 6.

Lady Rams sweep Stephens, preparing for region tourney

The Elbert County Middle School Lady Rams Basketball teams posted a clean sweep of Stephens County at home Jan. 4. The seventh grade Lady Rams got the day started with a 31-17 win over the Lady Rebels in the first game while the eighth grade Lady Rams won their game by a score of 29-22.

Blue Devils named to All-State team

Carter Fleming takes first place at Jefferson Invitational

Elbert County Mat Devil Carter Fleming took home first place from the Jefferson Invitational and Isiah Davis finished runner-up as the Devils finished 11th out of 26 teams in attendance.
