Subdivision, solar on ECPC's upcoming docket

The Elbert County Planning Commission (ECPC) is scheduled to hold a public hearing to discuss a new subdivision and a  new solar farm that are pending rezone approval from the Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC), according to a public notice provided to The Elberton Star.

JAM Fest and Taste of Elberton this weekend

Friends Helping Friends Club Inc. is holding the 12th Annual JAM Fest and Taste of Elberton Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in The ROC at First Baptist Church of Elberton. The event will feature a food court including local vendors, concerts by local musicians and both silent and live cake auctions.

Elbert County Board of Education calling for ESPLOST referendum

The Elbert County Board of Education voted to approve a referendum at their monthly meeting on Monday which would allow Elberton voters to decide whether to extend the current 1% E-SPLOST sales tax from December 2026, when it is currently set to expire, until June 2027.

Elberton city manager gives update on splash park, projects

The Elberton city council gave an update on the splash park project at its regular meeting on Monday. City manager Kevin Eavenson said that the city is “nearing the finish line” of completing the splash park and that the final interior and exterior painting had been finished.
