Elberton Community Impact Grant program returning

Elberton city manager Kevin Eavenson announced the return of the city’s Community Impact Grant program at the city council’s monthly meeting on Monday.
The Community Impact Program, established last year, gives out grants to Elberton-based nonprofit organizations who work to improve the community.

Elberton celebrating 100 years of Samuel Elbert Hotel

The City of Elberton will celebrate the Samuel Elbert Hotel's 100th anniversary with a gala after the hotel turned 100 years old in the month of August.
The hotel was opened in 1925 and operated for nearly four decades before being converted into office space.

Elberton mayoral race cancelled

The Municipal General Election for the City of Elberton has officially been cancelled after mayoral candidate Derrell Antonio Lawrence was disqualified, according to city clerk Cindy Churney.
Lawrence filed a Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit for the office of mayor Aug. 18.

After years in the making, the City of Elberton is finally ready to cut the ribbon on what they have named "Splash Island Elberton at Senior League Park."
Splash Island is slated to hold its grand opening Aug. 30 with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m.
