Fair returns to Elbert for 92nd consecutive year

The Elberton 12-County Fair is slated to make its grand return this weekend for the 92nd consecutive year. Fair manager Becky Hitchcock, whose family has been in charge of the fair since the late 90's, said this year's 11-day fair promises to deliver yet again.

Lady Devils softball closing out strong regular season

Postseason play is looming on the horizon for the Elbert County softball team, with just three regular season games left on the schedule. The Lady Devils are currently 22-3 and sport an undefeated 11-0 region record.

Blue Devils beat Commerce for second straight win

The Elbert County defense turned in another stifling performance on Friday night, shutting down Commerce in a 16-6 road victory.

After finding out she was in remission after a battle with cancer at the young age of 35, Jenny Jenkins didn't go back to her normal life. Instead, she was called to turn right around and start giving her time and energy to women who were in the middle of their own personal battles.

Hulme sheds light on upcoming FLOST measure

In the upcoming election, Elbert County voters will have the opportunity to decide on enacting a new one-percent sales tax, titled "Floating Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST)," for the sole purpose of reducing property taxes within the county.

Elbert softball still rolling ahead of Banks showdown

Elbert County softball continues to take care of business, extending their winning streak to seven games to improve to 19-3 on the season. The Lady Devils only have one loss in the month of September and are 9-0 in region play.

Elbert County football shuts out Oglethorpe for first win

Elbert County football started its region schedule with an emphatic 27-0 shutout of Oglethorpe County for the Blue Devils’ first win of 2025. “I think the story goes to the defense,” head coach Andy Dyer said. “Any time you throw a goose egg up, that’s a big deal.

Elbert County crowns a queen on homecoming

Elbert County's newest queen is Jaslyn Huff after she was crowned homecoming queen during the halftime homecoming ceremony that took place during Elbert County's football game against Oglethorpe County in the Granite Bowl Sept. 19.
