Elbert County volleyball earns its first state playoff berth

The Elbert County Lady Devils are officially playoff bound. Elbert qualified for the GHSA Class A state volleyball championship for the first time in school history. The Lady Devils are the No. 23 team in the 32-team bracket, which was released Sunday afternoon.

Lady Devils earn top seed in softball region playoffs

Playoff softball is here in Elbert County. The Lady Devils softball team will host Putnam County in a doubleheader on Wednesday, Oct 15 at Wesley King Field, with the first game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and the second one set for 5:30 p.m.

Lady Devils softball is still on a heater. Elbert wrapped up its regular season on Monday with a 16-0 win over Thomson on the road. They ran away with it in the first inning, scoring 10 runs and ultimately ending the game after just three.

Elbert County football started its region schedule with an emphatic 27-0 shutout of Oglethorpe County for the Blue Devils’ first win of 2025. “I think the story goes to the defense,” head coach Andy Dyer said. “Any time you throw a goose egg up, that’s a big deal.
