Elbert County to host North Oconee

When the Elbert County Blue Devils host the North Oconee Titans Friday night, it will be for a shot of revenge and a chance to even the overall series between the two schools.

Lady Blue Devils win two in a row

The  Lady Diamond Devils won two road games last week, advancing their overall season record to one game above .500 (9-8) and even in Region 8-AA play (2-2).

Crawford calls youth to duck hunt

When Melvin Crawford moved to Elberton 24 years ago, he used his love of duck hunting to get to know people in the community. His love of sharing duck hunting with the community will continue on Oct.

Former head coach Sid Fritts returns to the Granite Bowl

If you thought you saw a familiar face peering out of the visitors’ box Friday night in the Granite Bowl, you weren’t seeing things. Former Elbert County head football coach Sid Fritts, who now coaches offensive line for Washington-Wilkes, worked the sky box for the visiting Tigers.

Devils play to lights out

Head coach Brad Waggoner’s first Blue Devil win included a bazaar fourth-quarter finish.  With 2:20 left in the game, the lights went out. Elbert County High School Principal Jason Kouns explained the lights were set on a timer and went off at 10 p.m.

Undefeated at home

The Elbert County Lady Diamond Devils experienced a rocky road in Week 3.  With a crowd pleasing 8-7 seventh-inning win over Clarke Central Aug. 20, Elbert remained undefeated on the season at King Field.

Elbert runners compete at Lamar Murphy

The Elbert County High School cross country teams are off racing into a new season.  Elbert launched its 2019 season in the Bulldog Early meet Aug. 15 in Hartwell.

Elbert to host Washington

New Washington-Wilkes head coach T.C. Jay will look for his first win against Elbert County as he brings his untested Tiger into the Granite Bowl Friday night.  While Jay’s varsity Tigers scrimmaged Hart County to a 14-0 deficit two weeks ago, they’ll be kicking the season off in Elberton.

Blue Devils fall in Hart

‘Big mistakes’ and poor execution caused Elbert County’s first loss to rival Hart County in five years (19-7, 2014) Friday night in Hartwell.  Hart’s senior-laden Bulldogs took advantage of early Blue Devil miscues to produce the most lopsided game (39-7) since the Brent Miller era.
