Elbert JROTC Raiders finish first in nation in rope bridge

The Elbert County JROTC Raiders will soon be sporting some new bling on their pinky fingers. The team finished first place in the rope bridge competition at the All Service Raider National Tournament Nov. 2 in Molena. Lt. Col J.D.

Elbert's Jeannie Jourolmon named Region 8A Division 1 Athletic Director of the Year

Elbert County athletic director Jeannie Jourolmon was recognized as the 2024–2025 Region 8A Division 1 Athletic Director of the Year at the region athletic directors’ semiannual meeting. Jourolmon was voted the winner by the rest of the Region 8A Division 1 athletic directors.

Elbert's Larry Kesler named GHSA girls’ golf coach of the year

Larry Kesler has transformed Elbert County golf, and he has the hardware to prove it. The Blue Devils’ golf coach, a position he has held since 2020, was recently named the GHSA Coach of the Year for girls’ golf, a statewide award spanning all classifications.

Rematch: Blue Devils welcome Oglethorpe for first round of GHSA State Playoffs

Lady Devils flag football team splits two games at home

The Blue Devils may have been off preparing for the playoffs, but there was still gridiron action at the Granite Bowl last week as the Elbert County Lady Devils flag football team continued its inaugural season as a program, hosting Cedar Shoals for two games.

Bills sign Mecole Hardman Jr. to practice squad

Elberton native and veteran NFL wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. is back in the NFL. The three-time Super Bowl champion signed with the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad on Monday per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Buffalo is currently 6-3 and second in the AFC East.

Elbert cross country season ends at GHSA sectionals

Cross country season wrapped up for Elbert County last weekend at the GHSA 1A Division I sectional meet, held at Jeff Davis Middle School in Hazelhurst on Nov. 1.

Blue Devils come up short against Rabun County

The Elbert County football team lost its final game of the regular season at home to Rabun County 31-23 on Friday night. The Blue Devils started fast and jumped out to an early lead, but the Wildcats came surging back and Elbert was unable to overcome some costly turnovers on Halloween.
