Ninth District Opportunity Inc. (NDO) is offering home heating help for the elderly and medically homebound. Households in which every member is 65-years old and older, or is medically homebound due to health reasons, may apply for assistance with their heating bills beginning Dec. 1.

Mat Devils host first home meet of new season

The Elbert County wrestling team hosted the Granite City Scramble at the Inferno on Saturday, its first home meet of the 2025-26 season. Elbert finished fifth overall, while Mountain View claimed the top team spot.
Five Mat Devils finished in the top two of their respective events.

Blue Devils’ football season ends with playoff loss to Gordon Lee

Elbert County football’s 2025 season came to an end on Friday night in Chickamauga, as the Blue Devils fell 17-12 to Gordon Lee on the road in the second round of the GHSA state playoffs.

Elbert County BOC maintains millage rate, approves BOE rate

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners voted 3-1 to keep their millage rate at 9.928 for the unincorporated area and 10.349 in the incorporated area, down from advertised rates of 10.183 and 10.604 respectively.

Blue Devils take down Oglethorpe in first round of GHSA State Playoffs

The Elbert County Blue Devils are moving on.
Elbert defeated Oglethorpe 24-7 Friday night in the Granite Bowl in the first round of the GHSA state playoffs. The Blue Devils dominated on the ground and dictated the pace of the game all night, rushing for 269 yards as a team.

Elbert JROTC Raiders finish first in nation in rope bridge

The Elbert County JROTC Raiders will soon be sporting some new bling on their pinky fingers.
The team finished first place in the rope bridge competition at the All Service Raider National Tournament Nov. 2 in Molena.

Elbert's Jeannie Jourolmon named Region 8A Division 1 Athletic Director of the Year

Elbert County athletic director Jeannie Jourolmon was recognized as the 2024–2025 Region 8A Division 1 Athletic Director of the Year at the region athletic directors’ semiannual meeting.
Jourolmon was voted the winner by the rest of the Region 8A Division 1 athletic directors.
