Elbert County basketball came up short in the first round of the region tournament against Banks County Monday night, losing 55-43 at Piedmont University in Demorest. Though Elbert’s run in the region tournament was cut short, they will still likely land in the GHSA state tournament.

Lady Devils surge in wins over Warren, Commerce

An offensive barrage with swarming defense lifted the Elbert County girls’ basketball team to a 74-47 win over Warren County last Wednesday night, and the Lady Devils kept rolling with a 52-37 win over Commerce the following Friday.

Hoop Devils stun Commerce, snap Warren's win streak

The Elbert County basketball team earned perhaps its biggest win of the season Friday night with an 85-83 overtime victory over Commerce. The Blue Devils handed the Tigers their first region loss of the 2025-26 season. “Huge win,” head coach Chris Owens said.

Rams put finishing touch on undefeated season with championship win

Derek Aston received a hero’s welcome Thursday night after his Elbert County Rams seventh grade boys’ basketball team capped off a perfect season with a win in the NEGIAA championship game. “We went in the locker room and they hit me with every water bottle they had,” the head coach said.

Redemption is a sweet thing, and that’s what the Elbert County Middle School girls’ seventh grade basketball team earned last Thursday when they beat Habersham County 41-23 in the NEGIAA championship.

Lady Devils send seniors off with win over Oglethorpe County

The Elbert County girls’ basketball team honored its seniors Friday night after beating Oglethorpe County 62-36 in The Inferno. The Lady Devils improved to 13-7 with a 4-5 region record. Seniors Zy Belcher, Sarah Blackmon, Kaylen Rucker and Kamryn Webb were recognized after the game.

Lady Devils run out of steam against Athens Academy

The Elbert County girls’ basketball team came up short against Athens Academy at home Friday, dropping a region matchup 62-55 to the 16-2 Lady Spartans. The Lady Devils are now 12-6 overall including a 3-4 mark in region play.
