Elbert County flag football debuts in the Granite Bowl

High school football in the Granite Bowl has been an Elberton staple since 1954, and starting this year, a brand new Devils team is calling the historic stadium home for a new kind of gridiron action.

Volley Devils await state tournament fate after wrapping area playoffs

Elbert County volleyball went 17-16 in the regular season for the first winning season in program history. The Lady Devils won the first game of their area tournament on Sept. 29 before falling to the eventual area champion, Oglethorpe, in three sets (25-19, 25-21, 25-16.

Elbert County softball finishes regular season undefeated in region

Lady Devils softball is still on a heater. Elbert wrapped up its regular season on Monday with a 16-0 win over Thomson on the road. They ran away with it in the first inning, scoring 10 runs and ultimately ending the game after just three.

Elbert cross country boys finish first at Stephens

Elbert County cross country had its best performance of 2025 so far at The Reservation Run, hosted by Stephens County on Thursday, Oct. 2. Led by a fourth place finish by junior Dakota Toole, who ran the 5K in 19 minutes and 52.

Blue Devils handle PCA for third straight win, Dyer’s 100th

The Elbert County Blue Devils won their third straight game on Friday, taking care of Providence Christian Academy 43-9 at the Granite Bowl. The Blue Devils dominated both sides of the ball for head coach Andy Dyer’s 100th career win.

Elbert volleyball finishes regular season, competes in area playoffs

It’s playoff time for Elbert County volleyball. The Lady Devils wrapped up the regular season last week with a 16-15 record, good for the first winning season in program history and the most wins Elbert volleyball has had in a season.

Blue Devils’ late push falls short against Lincoln County

Friday night saw another hard-fought slugfest in the Granite Bowl, with Lincoln County outlasting Elbert County 24-17. The Blue Devils’ defense battled hard all night and consistently stifled a Red Devil offense that had averaged 46.5 points per game in its last two contests.

Offensive outbursts continue for Lady Devils softball team

Elbert County softball had another prolific week on the diamond, rebounding from a loss to Prince Avenue last Monday to rip off five straight wins and a combined 58 runs in that stretch. “We’ve been swinging it well all year, so I mean that’s just our girls,” head coach Bryce Bowen said.

Elbert County volleyball ramps up region play

The final stretch of the regular season is on the horizon for Elbert County volleyball, who are currently 15-10 and sixth in 1A Area 8 with a 3-3 record in area play. The Lady Devils went 1-3 in their four matches last week and 1-1 this Tuesday.
