Elbert County is headed to the Elite Eight of the GHSA State Playoffs for the second season in a row after a 26-24 win over Heard County in what was a back-and-forth game between two evenly matched sides.

Mat Devils finish first again

Elbert County’s Mat Devils came away with another first-place finish as they won the Granite City Scramble Nov. 23 in the Inferno.  Elbert finished first overall in the event with 182 points, ahead of second-place West Laurens, who finished with 170 points.

Lady Devils pick up win in opening game

The Elbert County Lady Devils kicked off their new season with a big 59-48 win over Franklin County in the Inferno Nov. 19.  Leading the Lady Devils in points was Zy Belcher, who finished with 19 points and four rebounds.

Elbert County’s Blue Devils basketball team kicked off their season Nov. 19 with a close loss by a score of 73-71 to Franklin County in the Inferno. The Devils were led in scoring by Grady Jones, who finished with 24 points, four rebounds, four steals and an assist.  A.J.

Devils top Gordon Lee in first round

Elbert County is on to the second round of the GHSA State Playoffs after the Blue Devils football team defeated Gordon Lee by a score of 28-13 behind a second-half shutout in Chickamauga Nov. 15.

Mat Devils go undefeated in Oconee County Duals

Elbert County’s Mat Devils finished first overall at the Oconee County Duals Nov. 16 after finishing 5-0 on the day with wins over teams from higher classifications.  Elbert started the day with a match against Franklin and took a 48-31 win over the Lions.

Devils to see Heard in second round

Elbert County’s Blue Devils football team is scheduled to make another long trip Friday as they are headed to Heard County for the second round of the GHSA State Playoffs Nov. 15.  Heard is the No. 3 seed in the bracket and made it to the second round after a 45-14 win over No. 30 McNair Nov. 15.

Cross Country finishes No. 6 in the state

Elbert County’s cross country Blue Devils wrapped up their 2024 campaign by finishing No. 6 in the state and was the highest-placing team from Region 8A Division 1 at the GHSA Class A Division 1 State Championship meet hosted by Carrollton High School Nov. 8.

Varsity Mat Devils put seven on the podium in Jackson County

Elbert County’s Mat Devils kicked off their 2024 season with seven placers at the Panther Scramble hosted by Jackson County Nov. 9.  Leading the way for the Devils was Lane Fleming, who finished in first place at  106 pounds after going undefeated on the day.

Devils to make long haul to face Gordon Lee Friday

Elbert County’s Blue Devils football team is headed to Northwest Georgia as the Devils are scheduled to travel over 200 miles to face off with Gordon Lee High School of Chickamauga in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs Nov. 15.
