After Elbert’s second region loss to Rabun Oct. 18, Elbert County Head Football Coach Brad Waggoner challenged his Blue Devils to win the next three games in a row. 

With the combination of veteran leadership and experienced cadets,  the JROTC Mixed team captured Elbert County’s sixth state Raiders championship Oct. 26 at Griffin High School.

With a 35-18 win at Monticello Oct. 25, Elbert County got back on the winning track and improved to 4-4 on the season overall. 

When Elbert travels to Putnam Friday night, it will be for arguably the most important game of the season. 

Elbert County lost its second region game on the season in a physically bruising battle against Rabun County Oct. 18 in the Granite Bowl.

After losing a pair of Region 8-AA games in as many weeks, the Elbert County Blue Devils will look to get back on track at Monticello Friday night.

The standing results are unofficial, but it appears the Elbert County JROTC Mixed and Male teams did just enough to win the Area 8 championship and finish as runners-up respectively during Elbert C

The Elbert County Blue Devils will certainly have their hands full when reigning region champion Rabun County comes knocking on the Granite Bowl door Friday night.
