It was one short year ago Elbert County Commissioners signed the documents to take over Bobby Brown Park and they did so under a lot of scrutiny from those who thought the venture folly.

Death Notices

George A. Nicas, 59, of Athens died July 11. Hicks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jerald George Albertson, 62, of Royston and a native of Elberton, died July 3. Memorial services were held July 9 at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston. 

Robert King Jr., 52, died June 23. Services were held June 30 at the Edward B. Pope Conference Center and interment was in Hillard Station Baptist Church Cemetery in Washington.
