Devils, Lady Devils finish fourth at Blue Devil Shootouts

Arrowhead Pointe was bustling this weekend as it played host to the Blue Devil Shootouts Feb. 28. A total of 136 golfers from around Georgia came to compete in the scramble tournament, which was split between boys and girls. Both of Elbert’s teams finished fourth in their respective fields.

Last season was a triumph for the Elbert County golf program, with the boys’ team winning the GHSA state championship and the girls’ team finishing as state runners-up.

Larry Kesler has transformed Elbert County golf, and he has the hardware to prove it. The Blue Devils’ golf coach, a position he has held since 2020, was recently named the GHSA Coach of the Year for girls’ golf, a statewide award spanning all classifications.
