Lady Devils beat Hart County in exciting finish, win three straight

Elbert County softball is heating up.The Lady Devils picked up a dramatic win over Hart County Thursday night, before racing past Washington-Wilkes and Stephens County. The three-game winning streak has Elbert at 4-3 on the season.
The 2026 Lady Devil cheer squad includes captain Alyssa Brown, co-captains Isabella Belli and Maya Alcalde, and Maddie Adamson, Jolee Ainsworth, Presley Bellew, Alyssa Brown, Matylee Brown, Bethany Burden, Riley Grace Collier, Grace Dixon, Allie Hulme, Sophie Lavender, Cassidy Montgomery, Juana Olvera, Olivia Paramore, Liberty Rousey, Kyler Shaw and Sequoia Singleton. Elbert County volleyball made its first playoff appearance in school history last season, and the Lady Devils are aiming to build on that success in 2026.Last season, Elbert County finished 16-15 in the regular season– its first winning season in program history.

Last season ended too early for the Elbert County softball team’s liking, and the Lady Devils are intent on improving on 2025 with a trip to Columbus this year.The Lady Devils went 24-3 in the 2025 regular season, including a perfect 12-0 mark in region play.

Elbert County Comprehensive High School senior Emily Poon was named Region 8A Division I Girls’ Tennis Player of the Year after a strong 2026 season, it was announced last week.Poon was dominant in her final season as a Lady Devil, posting a 15-0 singles record.

Lady Devils’ Kaylen Rucker signs to play college basketball at Columbia International University

Elbert County Comprehensive High School senior and Lady Devils guard Kaylen Rucker is officially continuing her basketball career at the collegiate level.Rucker signed her letter of intent Wednesday afternoon to play basketball at Columbia International University in a ceremony held at ECCHS.

Lady Devils advance to state Final 4 with win over Vidalia

The Elbert County Lady Devils are Final 4 bound. No. 12 seed Elbert went on the road and beat No. 4 seed Vidalia 61-38, advancing to the GHSA A state championship semifinal and avenging last year’s playoff loss to the Indians in the process. “It’s surreal right now,” head coach Josh Jones said.

Lady Devils hosting ACE Charter in playoff first round

The Inferno will play host in the first round of the GHSA A Division I playoffs, with ACE Charter visiting the Elbert County Lady Devils on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.  18-8 Elbert County is the No. 12 seed in the state tournament while ACE comes in at No. 21.
