The Elbert Theatre will offer a chance for audiences to be transported to Sweetgum, Texas and into the world of the Verdeen cousins when “Rex’s Exes,” a “southern-fried farce” opens on the theatre stage Friday.
The Verdeen cousins – Gaynelle (played by Julie Williams), Peaches (played by Kayla Hiott) and Jimmie Wyvette (played by Kimberly Dennies) will take the audience on a tour of their comical, yet relatable, life through family woes and small-town life.
The Verdeens are joined by Peaches’ thought-to-be dead husband Theodore Rexford Belrose (played by Robert Roach), Aunt LaMerle Verdeen Minshew/Mama Doll Hargis (played by Cindy Barrow) and Uncle Aubrey Verdeen (played by Eric Jenson).
Wild Bill Boudreaux (played by Timothy Aaron-Styles), Cee Cee Windham (played by Suzie Sanders) Marlissa Crutchfiled (played by Yvonne Snellings), Bitsy Hargis (played by Cayla Gunter) and Gentle Harmony (Molly Barrow) also help bring Sweetgum to life.
