One of seven candidates will be announced as queen at halftime of Friday’s game

Friday night Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) will announce the 2021 homecoming queen at halftime of the Elbert County-Haralson football game in the Historic Granite Bowl.

The game will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The theme for this year’s Homecoming is “Bet on the Blue Devils.”

Halftime activities will include: the crowning of first and second runnersup and the homecoming queen.

The homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2 in the high school multipurpose room from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.

The ECCHS Student Council has the responsibility of planning and conducting the homecoming activities.

Senior Student Council officers are Jordan Glaze, President; Kemora Fortson, Vice-President; Austin Dorsey, secretary; and Lacie Hall, Student Council President.

Each class officer is also a member of the student council.

The faculty sponsor is Mrs. Tracy Brown.

The election of Homecoming Court and Class Representatives was held in September.

Members of the freshman, sophomore and junior classes had an opportunity to vote for five girls.

The one receiving the most votes became the representative of that class.

The representatives are freshman Hannah Brady; sophomore Georgia Phillips; and junior Jamia Allen.

The senior class picked 14 girls, from which the entire student body chose seven, electing a Homecoming Court.

The 14 girls nominated by the senior class were:

Tariyah Allen, Liberty Burnette, Taniah Cunningham, Jordan Davenport, Camille Downer, Karis Gary, Jordan Glaze, Lacie Hall, Katie Hobbs, Jade Partain, Maryjane Richard,  Kaitlin Royston,  Nystaza Scott and Emily Townsend.

The student body then chose the homecoming court queen candidates.

The girl with the most votes will be crowned the 2021 Homecoming Queen.

The 2021 Homecoming Court members are: Tariyah Allen,  Taniah Cunningham, Karis Gary, Jordan Glaze,  Lacie Hall, Katie Hobbs and Jade Partain.

Senior football players and their sponsors will still be part of the homecoming parade.

The 2021 homecoming parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the scoreboard end of the Granite Bowl on Church Street.

The parade will go up Church Street to Thomas Street, turn left onto Heard Street, and then proceed to around Sutton Square.

A community wide pep rally will be held on the square following the parade.

The Homecoming Court and the Senior Football players and their sponsors will be riding in the parade along with several ECCHS clubs and the ECCHS marching band.

JROTC and the ECCHS Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders will be participating as well.
