Elbert County High School names October Students of the Month

Elbert County Comprehensive High School recently named its Students of the Month for October 2019.

McKenzie Dye was selected as the Career Pathways Student of the Month by the Family & Consumer Sciences Department. Her instructor, LeeAnne Cordell, said that “McKenzie is a great student. She works hard to get assignments and projects in on time. She is always positive, respectful, engaged and willing to help with whatever needs to be done!” McKenzie is the daughter of Clarke and Felicia Dye.

Kimberly Segura was recognized as the Academic Student of the Month by the English/Language Arts Department because her teacher, Pam Wilson, said that "Kimberly is an exemplary student with a positive attitude.” Kimberly is the daughter of Carmen Hernandez and Osvaldo Segura.

Camille Downer was selected by Erica Wilson from Dance Aerobics class as the PE Student of the Month for October 2019. Wilson nominated Camille because “she is an awesome student with a positive attitude and a contagious smile. Camille is always willing to learn something new and brings a bright presence to class each day. She is a pleasure to have in class!” Camille is the daughter of Kenneth and Felecia Downer.

Koriyana Heard was selected as the Fine Arts Student of the Month for October 2019 by the Chorus Department. Her chorus instructor, Allyson Dye, said that “Koriyana is an extremely dedicated student. She is the ultimate team player because she is always prepared, has a positive attitude and gives her best. As a ninth grader, she is learning how to become a leader in her section.” Koriyana is the daughter of Corey and JaNisha Heard.

Marleigha Dean was recognized as the Academic Student of the Month by the Social Studies Department. Her teacher, JoAnn Gunter, said that “Marleigha is an excellent student who is always prepared and is always willing to help other students in class.” Marleigha is the daughter of Marvin and Millicent Dean.

Andrew Jaggers was recognized as the Academic Student of the Month by the Math Department. His teacher, Lindsay Johnson, said that “Andrew is very bright and is diligent in doing his best. He is always thinking ahead and pushes others to do their best. Andrew is a joy to have in class.” Andrew is the son of Paul and Regina Hartman.

Maryjane Richard was recognized as the Academic Student of the Month for October 2019 by the Science Department because her teacher, Julie Hover, said that “Maryjane has the highest average in Honors Chemistry. She is always well-prepared for class, participates in lectures/activities and works diligently to do well on all assignments. She is a pleasure to teach!” Maryjane is the daughter of Jennifer Richard.

Cadet SGT Katrina Bradford was recognized as the Cadet of the Month by the JROTC Department. Cadet Captain Maurnich says that “Katrina is an exemplary cadet! She is a platoon sergeant as a sophomore and always has her cadets squared away. Katrina also displays strong leadership and knowledge. She has amazing potential and continues to work hard every day. Katrina won the Promotion Board Competition for Cadet of the Month. Great job, Katrina!” Cadet Bradford is the daughter of Tina Bradford and Ricky Eberhardt.
