The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade was held Sunday, Jan. 14 by the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee/Elbert County Planning Committee. The parade featured a variety of participants including churches, the Jim-Ree Museum, the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce, the Elbert County Blue Devil Marching Band, elected officials, political candidates, youth organizations and more. John Mell Clark and Mary Morrison Clark served as the grand marshals.
This year's theme featured the theme "The Dream Starts with Me" with many floats and cars featuring posters with the theme. The parade was the only event held for the 2024 Unity Celebration as the rest of the events were canceled. The parade had been canceled as well, but thanks to overwhelming support from the community, it went on as planned. (Photos by Scoggins)
