In honor of Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Senior Army Instructor Maj. Ed Lovin’s retirement after 18 years at the helm of the program, the rappel tower at ECCHS was dubbed “The Lovin Tower” in a May 25 dedication ceremony. ECCHS senior Broughton Smith came up with the idea and brought it to the Matthews Granite team, who donated a granite marker to be placed by the tower.
