Temperatures were soaring but they weren't too hot to keep approximately 400 people including participants, parents and volunteers from attending the Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc. (FHF) Fun Football Day Saturday, June 15 at McWilliams Park.
Headlining the event was former Elbert County Blue Devil, Georgia Bulldog and now Kansas City Chief Mecole Hardman, who came to support the non-profit charity FHF. Elbert County Comprehensive High School football players, cheerleaders, dance teams and their coaches volunteered to run many of the events.
Combine-style events included the long jump, kicking the football off a tee, shuttle runs and timed sprints.
On hand towering over the four water slides was the Elbert County Fire Department ladder truck. Participants and parents took advantage of several local vendors and food trucks who sold beverages and food items.
Hardman stood for photo opportunities with all who stood in line. He also presented a special Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII helmet to Lynn Blackmon for her outstanding donation made to FHF Club, Inc. at FHF Football Fun Day.
