Elbert County students woke up early, prepped themselves with fresh clothes and gear, and got back into the swing of the school routine.

Having gotten up and out early Friday morning Aug. 2, Paris Mayfield boards Mr. Rice's school bus on her first day of school at Elberton Elementary. According to Paris' mother, ShaQuinna Curry, Paris said she wasn't really ready to back to school, but she did say she likes her new teacher and she has a couple of classmates from last year's class in her new third grade class.
