A fleeting shower preceding the Friday, May 24 ceremony dampened seats but not spirits of the graduating seniors of 2024.
Opening the 2024 ceremony was Elbert County Comprehensive High School senior class president Kamauri Willis, who opened the ceremony by welcoming attendees to this year's commencement. Senior Lana Stelter followed with the singing of the National Anthem, and senior class vice president Jude Sanders offered words of inspiration for the graduates.
Key speakers for the evening were third honor graduate Brenna Pulliam, salutatorian Cecile Hall and valedictorian Audrey Poon. Their speeches are printed in this edition of The Elberton Star (see Viewpoints, Page 7).
Senior class secretary Mireya Yanez introduced principal Josh Rider who presented two awards designated by the ECCHS faculty. Kemauri Willis was awarded the Faculty Cup follwed by Miguel Rodriguez, who was awarded the Principal's Cup.
Awarding class diplomas was Superintendent Robert Wheeler assisted by counselor Stacy Almond.
Senior class reporter D'Nadia Hill introduced Superintendent Robert Wheeler who officially declared the Class of 2024 "graduates."
The ceremony closed with senior chorus students leading the crowd in singing the Alma Mater.
