Attempting to 'harden up the grid'
Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) is now full into its project of establishing power lines through the city that will expand from the substation at North McIntosh Street all the way down to the substation on Old Middleton Road.
The huge power lines that many have noticed going through town, will create a loop seed as opposed to the radial seed that the city is currently using.
The purpose of the project is to “provide a redundancy of service in the transmission grid,” says Elberton City Manager Lanier Dunn.
