'Old Glory' markers for Memorial Day

JROTC students honor veterans on Memorial Day

The Elbert County Comprehensive High School JROTC students made sure veterans’ graves were marked with United States flags for the Memorial Day weekend. In this photograph, O’Bryant Sheppard (left) and DJ Veal (right) place their flags at the grave marker of Hayden Wiley, who had four pennies on his grave. Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters left on the grave markers of veterans all have a different meaning, and JROTC students made note of the different coins left on markers in Elbert County.
