City's eminent domain condemnation fails
The attempt by the Elberton City Council to condemn and invoke eminent domain on a building adjoining Samuel Elbert Hotel’s east side failed after court documents were signed in Superior Court in November.
The eminent domain lawsuit filed against property owners Bob and Rina Thomas (Bob Thomas is the Elbert County Administrator) by the city came after a series of events leading up to the $5 million renovation of the Samuel Elbert Hotel.
