Elbert County native Starke Jaudon recounts 20-year military career

One of Elbert County's own sons, Starke Jaudon, made a living out of service to his country. Born in Elbert County and raised on Forest Avenue in Elberton, Starke attended Elberton High School and later attended Gordon Military College for three years.

Elberton Downtown Skelebration, Fall Festival this weekend

A busy weekend is ahead as the Main Street Elberton is set to host two of its biggest events of the year on back-to-back days. The festivities are scheduled to begin Friday, with the annual Downtown Skelebration, set to kick off at 4 p.m. on the downtown square.

Bowman food pantry looking for new home

The property that once housed Bowman Elementary School and a gym currently serving  as home to the Bowman Community Food Pantry are now being offered for sale. The historic site, located in the heart of Bowman at 86 Adams Circle has long been a community landmark.

Elberton 12-County Fair returns to spread fall cheer

The Elberton 12-County Fair made its return to Elbert County last week, bringing fun and smiles to all who went. Some of the headlining events for this year's fair include a big-top circus, a Michael Jackson tribute performance, a hypnotist, the Banana Derby and two on-site petting zoos.
